Bezmirno Architects' Innovative Design for Formal Wear Department

Award-Winning Interior Design Inspired by Traditional Tailoring Features

In a world where fashion and architecture intersect, Bezmirno Architects have created an innovative interior design for the Formal Wear Department, a men's clothing store that combines traditional tailoring features with modern aesthetics. This design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, showcases a unique blend of form and function, transforming the shopping experience into a journey of discovery and enjoyment.

The inspiration behind the design of the Formal Wear Department comes from the classics of the fashion industry. Bezmirno Architects have incorporated installations, functional and stylistic features inherent in traditional tailoring into the store's design. The centerpiece of the store is an installation inspired by a tailor's cushion, which not only draws attention but can also be transformed to present new collections.

Unique properties of this design include the ability to adapt to the needs of the store. Cabinets along the walls can accommodate both long and short clothing, and the space is divided into two zones: a common area and a lounge area. The lounge area, complete with a bar and sofas, provides a space for customers to rest from shopping and enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of whiskey.

The interior design of the Formal Wear Department features a dark color scheme and a variety of materials, including wood, concrete, textile inserts, and brass pieces. The use of these materials, along with the transformative functions of the interior, creates an open space that can change its characteristics depending on the needs of the store.

The design project, which started in June 2019 and finished in October 2019 in Kyiv, was exhibited at Interior of the Year 2019 in December. The Bezmirno Architects team faced the challenge of creating a store that adheres to main architectural rules while also representing a modern vision of the fashion industry. The result is a store design that not only attracts visitors but also enhances their mood and shopping experience.

Bezmirno Architects' design for the Formal Wear Department is a testament to their innovative approach to interior design. By integrating elements of traditional tailoring into a modern retail space, they have created a unique shopping environment that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. This design, which has been recognized with a prestigious award, sets a new standard for retail interiors and underscores the importance of thoughtful, creative design in enhancing the customer experience.
